INNOVATIVE & SCIENTIFIC APPROACH TO FITNESS TRAINING
|
Finally, we have entered into the tech century.
You can now go online to view your training
schedule! We have our calendar at:
calendar.positivemotion training.com
This calendar is for you to read only. If you need
to make a change, cancel or add a session; call,
e-mail or text your trainer. If you want to be
e-mailed a reminder of your training appointment,
the calendar can do that; just let your trainer know.
You can see that the trainers have different colors
on the calendar. You can use the trainers'
schedule to see when the gym will open in the
morning and close at night. Please note: Sly has
many clients that he sees at other locations...do
not get confused with his times in Orinda or
Oakland as to when the studio might be open.
Please let us know how this works for you. Your
opinion is important to us!

FIT FOR YARD WORK?
Yard work can catch you by surprise. The "Law of Specificity" is the culprit. This law of exercise science states that training results are specific to the exact manner of training. For example: Training for endurance will not provide effective results for dynamic strength; training using slow muscular contractions or reps, will not result in effective strength for fast movements; training muscles in a particular range of motion will not stimulate results for all ranges of motion in that joint; and so on. When you want to get better at a particular sport or activity, you must simulate those motions as closely as possible in your training in order to get effective results. Be sure to tell your trainer exactly what activities you need to prepare for.
One good exercise for development of the specific muscles required for yard work is a dead lift. The stiff leg dead lift strengthens the low back, glutes, hamstrings, mid and upper back and shoulders. It also targets forearm and grip strength. This is my favorite exercise for gardeners.
Happy Gardening

Greetings!
As the runner in the above picture portrays: Along the road of life, one must keep going.
On that note we have sad news: Our long-time trainers Derrick and James have decided
to keep moving along their road of life. Derrick's last day is Thursday, May 19
James' last day will be Friday, May 27.
For clients that train with Derrick and James, you may have your pick of trainers to fulfill
your remaining package; Mateen, Laura, Sly, Lucie or Victor are all available. You may
also see a new face in a few weeks as well. We will try to make the transition as smooth
as possible so you keep getting the results you desire.
We will miss them and wish them the best!!
Mateen and Laura

Lucie joined us in January. She has an excellent ability to keep you moving throughout your workout, target in on
your goals and help with lifestyle changes. She is a very enjoyable, up-beat and energetic person in spite of chasing
around 3 teenagers in her "spare" time!
Lucie Le Blanc:I have been training since 2005, although I have been involved in fitness my entire life. I am
French/Canadian and ran competitively throughout my youth.. My philosophy about fitness & wellness is to make it
an ongoing process and a habit. I am highly passionate about fitness, I enjoy educating you about a new lifestyle or
improving your fitness level. I believe that you can achieve anything that you want. I strongly believe that fitness is
an anti-aging remedy as well as disease prevention.

Sly has been with us for almost 2 years and I bet many of you have never met him! He trains early in the morning and some
afternoons. He has a tight schedule, however, is open for more clients. He was playing b-ball and working out before James or
Derrick were born! Sly played college ball for Southern Oregon University, then went on to the Pros... and hasn't stopped
since. He is one of the most motivating and inspirational trainers we have had the pleasure to work with.
Sly Luckett: My personal philosophy is that "being fit is a way of life" and for most people this involves lifestyle changes.
From 14 to 90...whether you are extremely active or if you are sedentary, I can help improve your physical well being.
Be Fit, Be Healthy, Be Strong, Live Long!
